Co-owned by brothers Lou Schuler and Mike Schuler, Kings Electric Services
provides commercial electrical services for the Cincinnati and Columbus markets.
With over 80 full-time employees and sales of $20 million/year,
KES has a 40-year history of bringing power to projects big and small.
We’re the most trusted partner of contractors, architects, and building owners.
Our Story
Starting a business, raising a family: These are cornerstones of the American dream. Our founder, Kingsley Wientge, was lucky enough to get to do both of them.
The son of a small business owner, Wientge wanted to start his own business to support his family. He had worked at an electrical supply house during his high school years, and thought he could make a difference in the electrical services industry.
So, in 1983, Wientge borrowed $10,000 from his father to start Ohio King’s Electric Services in Lebanon, Ohio.
In 1986, Lou Schuler joined the company and entered the Associated Builders and Contractors, Electrical Apprenticeship program. Schuler quickly took initiative. Before the end of his fourth year in the apprenticeship program, he was leading his first project. Over the next 30 years, he worked his way up to Vice President.
New Ownership for Kings Electric Services
In early 2019, Wientge decided to retire and focus on ministry work. He wanted to sell the business. There was really only one person he trusted: Lou Schuler.
Schuler was the ideal choice because he had years of experience with the business—having helped grow it almost from the beginning.
Schuler wanted a partner with a deep background in business and finance. He asked his younger brother, Mike, to join forces. By the end of 2019, Lou Schuler and Mike Schuler were the new owners of Kings Electric Services.
Expansion into Columbus Market
The company has continued to thrive and grow, and in 2023, Kings Electric opened an office in Columbus, Ohio, with headquarters in the Short North neighborhood. KES now serves both the Greater Cincinnati and Columbus markets, offering best-in-class services to commercial developers and industrial clients.
No matter how much we grow, Kings Electric is still the same independently-owned company, focused on taking care of its customers by providing quality service for a fair price.
Trustworthiness, reliability, and transparency: These should be the baseline for our industry. Living these values is how we’ve been able to build and maintain decades-long relationships with contractors, vendors, and customers.
Kings Electric Services is truly a team, and as such, we support and nurture our people. We also seek to give back to the community, supporting organizations such as CityLink, Chautauqua, Junior League of Cincinnati, and others.
We still feel like the family-owned company we are. We learn together, have fun together, and win together.
